"shiboru" – "to wring, squeeze or press"
Contemporary shibori design, adding an organic graphic to the collection, printed on 100% luxury heavyweight linen cushion designed and made in Australia.
The original pattern was made by our designer using the traditional shibori technique. A length of silk was folded, sandwiched between two similar blocks of wood. The parcel was bound with jute string and immersed alternately into indigo, oxidising and neutralising vats, dried and then unfolded. The repeated use of indigo and oxidising and neutralising vats gives the shibori its rich tones. We have digitised this beautiful and traditional textile artwork so that it can be available for you to enjoy, free from the unnecessary use of chemicals.

At Old Fashioned Online sustainable design is at the core of our dream home, so the cushions are made in Australia with luxury linen which has been rub tested for soft furnishings. The digital print process aims to reduce waste. When purchasing, you also have the option of ethically sourced 100% certified feather fill for a soft touch, free of micro-plastics and a great choice for the environment. Plus 20% of profits go to Australian conservation charities.
Please note, linen is a slubbed cloth, visible as specks on the surface and is part of the natural artisan character. If you prefer a smooth surface please contact us for a bespoke order.
